David Thomson is a critical care sub-specialist in the division of Critical Care and a
consultant surgeon in the Transplant Unit at Groote Schuur Hospital and the University of
Cape Town. His interests are in medical education, ECMO and improving deceased
donation systems. He runs the massive open online course Organ Donation: From Death to
Life hosted on Coursera.org and heads the Transplant Centre of Excellence project.
